
Architectural Millwork Estimator
Position Summary
Responsible for estimating work with an emphasis on architectural casework, millwork, and commercial interiors. Responsible for preparing clear and detailed pricing estimates upon a thorough review of drawings and specifications for commercial, institutional, and healthcare projects from bid to handoff to the project management team.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Minimum (3) years’ experience in casework and millwork estimating and preferred (10) plus years in construction and building industry (commercial experience preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the relevant field
- Experience with web-based software programs (Innergy major plus)
- Solid Transportation and prompt
- Ability to create a takeoff from scratch. Must be able to breakdown millwork into each piece and component and price without the aid of pre-exiting formulas
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required
- Must be an extremely organized, thorough, and detail-oriented
- Must demonstrate a healthy collaborative attitude and work well in a team environment
- You must enjoy innovating around unique challenges and be self-motivated
Principal Duties / Responsibilities
- Must be able to assign fabrication, finish, and installation time to each piece of millwork without the assistance of pre-determined formulas or times
- Bidding projects ranging in size from $2,000 – $1m plus
- Responsible for reviewing assigned project invitations and gathering all information needed to complete a proposal
- Clearly communicate with customers in a timely manner (via phone and/or email) to understand project requirements, goals, and post bid questions
- Understands the current market and works to put together winning, profitable proposals
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing Team to pursue and earn projects bid
- Once awarded, set up projects for a detailed and successful hand-off to Project Management and Engineering
- Have an understanding of standard building construction methods to include AWI guidelines, LEEDS, and FSC requirements
- Handle multiple tasks in a deadline orientated environment
- Possesses excellent communication, mathematical, and grammar skills
